An A.P.B has been issued for the missing Math's and Sciences!
Last year, U.S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan issues a statement on the Nation's Report Card: Science 2009, National Assesment of Educational Progress (NAEP):
"The results released today show that our nation's students aren't learning at a rate that will maintain America's role as an international leader in the sciences. When only 1 or 2 percent of children score at the advanced levels on NAEP, the next generation will not be ready to be world-class inventors, doctors, and engineers".
Should we be worried that thousands of children in Arlington County public schools go all the way through the first half of 1st grade before the are even introduced to basic science? I believe "Science Week" is coming up in the month of March, but no sounds are being made in anticipation at my local elementary school. This is precisely why our nation is in an educational sink hole. Elementary age students are loosing valuable time during their developmental stages from under-exposure to these crucial studies in science and math in the public school systems.
Tomorrow, I am going into school and demanding...oh yes, parent/teacher conferences will be held for the next two days. No school.

Our own GOP Chairman, Mark Kelly to run in County Board Special Election in March
Mark Kelly has officially stepped up to the plate as the GOP candidate for Arlington County to run in the special elections for county board in March '12. Way to go Mark! With the democrats slinging mud at each other right now, I wonder if any of them saw this coming (?) Historically, republicans have had success in winning seats in Special Elections due to higher republican voter turnout. I'm excited to see the Arlington County Republican Committee so energized and ready to rally the voter's. As Precinct Captain of district 30, I'm talking about myself too!
Now is the time for Republicans to rally the bases and set off again for a big win over issues on higher personal property taxes, to much cement being poured (ok, that's my own pet peeve), more housing-more traffic, budgetary issues, musical chair(menship) on the county board, sanctuary cityesque un-appeal, tough and expensive permitting processes, oh, and that damn Trolley the county board wants to spend millions of your tax dollars on just so we can watch the Metro and ART Buses fight with the bicyclists who are pissing off driver's of CARS, who are trying to watch out for pedestrians while trying to pay attention to all the damn rode signs and LIGHTS, my heavens, all the lights!!!

Please Sign Petition regarding SB 477
This is the petition that will stop SB 477 from becoming law and criminalizing the pet ownership of what are currently considered "Non-Dangerous" pets/reptilia, and forcing these pet owner's to forfeit their animals to law enforcement or faced being charged with a Class 1 Misdemeanor. The reptilia that we do not agree with changing the classification to "dangerous" on are Boa Constrictors and Pythons. SB 477 also names "Non-Profit" organizations as being acceptable for licensing as wildlife sanctuaries. This is a blatant attempt by our own Congressmen to SILENCE OPPOSITION as Non-Profit Organizations are not allowed to give a political statement. This is wrong and needs to be stopped!
Please sign this petition and help our commitment to saving our pets, community members and small business including educational organizations from euthanasia and being criminalized, while we find a better way to address the problems.
